Here is a list of frequently asked questions for people who wish to contribute to the wiki.

Table of Contents

Who should contribute? How do I know I am smart enough?

Everyone should contribute to our site. This site is not meant to be contributed to just by the "experts". If wish to contribute something, whether it be an interesting case, comments about rare presentations of a particular disease, or even just fixing some grammatical mistakes; we encourage you to contribute.

When should I edit a page? Isn't it rude to change what other people wrote?

You should edit the page whenever you think that you have something to contribute. If you feel something is unclear, or you have better image than the one presented, or you feel there is an important point to elaborate on, then please contribute by editing the page. It is definately not rude to edit what other people say. Everyone using this site knows that it is a wiki, and articles can be changed at any time. In fact, most people want the information that they put on the site to be clarified and elaborated on, so that the wiki becomes a great resource. People who would be insulted by the collaborative nature of the wiki should not post here!!!! By working together, we can all build an amazing community.

What is the difference between a comment and editing a page?

A comment appears on the bottom of a page and does not alter the content of a page. You can see how to add comments by clicking here. Comments are a perfect place to post questions about the text of the page. Editing the page actually changes the text of the page itself.

Are there instructions how to use the Wiki?

We have a detailed User's Manual. Please feel free to contribute to the user's manual or add comments to the user's manual page if you feel there is something missing.

How do I add a page?

You can find how to add a page in our Users Manual - adding a page section.

How do I edit a page?

You can find how to add a page in our Users Manual - editing a page section.

What if I make a mistake?

If you make a mistake, you can easily go back and Edit the page again to correct it. Or, another user will correct it for you. It is not expected that every contribution be the definitive word on the subject. The quality of the information will come from hundreds of users contributing in order to improve the quality.

What if I find mistakes on the page?

If you find a mistake, please edit the page and correct it.

What if I think there is a mistake, but I am not sure?

In this case, add a comment to the bottom of the page. This will start a discussion and based on the results the participants will either decide to modify the page or leave it alone.

How do I attach a new case?

If you wish to attach a new example case to a disease that is already described, for example, you have a rare presentation of an AML and wish to share it, simply attach the case file to the existing page describing that disease.

If you wish to describe a new disease that is not already listed, please add a New Page. Make sure to add the new page when you are on the Case List page, so that the new page will be sub-page of the Case List and will automatically appear in the Table of Contents.

If I attach a case, what format should it be in?

This is a wiki, so you can attach the case in any format you like. We suggest posting them in FCS Express format, so that viewers can download the analysis using the Free FCS Express Reader. Then, viewers can manipulate the gates, change parameters on the plots, investigate the populations, and really learn the key points of the analysis. If you do not have access to  FCS Express, and wish to build a layout in this format, please contact support@denovosoftware.com.

Of course, you are not limited to this format. If you would like to publish a PDF, or PowerPoint presentation of your case, then please feel free to do so. We discourage placing documents in proprietary formats that are not freely available.

Are there Guidelines for the case content that are attached?

Yes there are. Please visit our Case Submission Guidelines page.

Who should I contact if I have any questions?
